How We Cater to Cowards
- Dr. Thein uses gentle techniques. For example, for novocain he uses The Wand®, pictured at the right. This is a computer-controlled device for giving injections. By carefully calibrating the rate of delivery of the anesthetic, it keeps the tissue numb just ahead of the needle and eliminates the pain caused by the pressure of the flow of anesthetic into the tissue.
- Dr. Thein is very patient and understanding. If you are ashamed and embarrassed over your dental condition, there is no need to feel that way in our office. He has treated thousands of patients like you throughout his over twenty years of dental practice and understands that, for various reasons, you may not have had the best dental care before. If dental anxiety has kept you from getting good care, he will work with you to overcome that.
- Dr. Thein uses sedation dentistry. If you need it, he can provide oral conscious sedation or even i.v. sedation. Visit our sedation dentistry page to learn more. For most patients, this means that they won't even remember what happened during their dental appointment.

Your Initial Visit
You will start by meeting with Dr. Thein privately to discuss any concerns about your teeth or dental care. If you have dental anxieties, this is the place to tell him, and he will recommend a way to deal with those in a way that will provide comfortable care for you.
If you have only slight anxiety, it could be that Dr. Thein's gentle techniques will be all you need. If you have greater anxieties, it may be that you will need oral sedation. If you need to, we can also provide intravenous sedation.
