He starts with a smile design book with photographs of various smiles. He uses this to discuss with you the smile design you want. Using your input, along with Dr. Thein's recommendations for you based on your face and personality, he has a computerized mock-up made of your photograph, showing how you will look with your new smile. You can show this photograph to family and friends, if you want their input. If you love the look that he has created for you, he moves forward. The next step is that he creates that design for you on models of your teeth. If you still like how that mock-up looks, he uses it to create a template that serves as a guide for your final smile design.

During your preparation appointment, this template is used to create a temporary smile makeover that you wear while your case is with Dr. Thein's master ceramist. This is the semi-final test to see if you really love the design. If you don't, modifications are made until you do.
